Justice Task Force & Focus Groups
Justice Task Force
First Mondays | via Zoom
The Trinity Justice Task Force was launched in January 2019 and initiated the very successful event series, Challenging Conversations on Fourth Thursdays, with the intention of addressing issues of interest and/or concern to ALL people of our community. Recently, we revived that program as KC Community Huddle and our focus will take us beyond interest and concern into action as we collaborate with justice-oriented organizations throughout the KC region. The Task Force serves as an umbrella for several more specific Focus Groups which will likely increase in number as we expand our efforts. Everyone is welcome to participate!

Medicaid Expansion Focus Group
Meets during the Justice Task Force Meeting on First Mondays | via Zoom
The Medicaid Expansion Focus Group was launched through Trinity's Justice Task Force in 2019. Along with others in Missouri, we became an important force in this arena when we gathered the required number of signatures from voters and submitted these to the Secretary of State for review. The Medicaid Expansion initiative then went to the voters in August of 2020 and passed. At this point in time, we continue to work on implementation by the state legislature of this important issue that provides healthcare for thousands of persons who were previously uninsured.

Housing Focus Group
Meets during the Justice Task Force Meeting on First Mondays | via Zoom
The Housing Focus Group was launched through Trinity's Justice Task Force in the middle of 2020 when we began to work as an ally organization of KC Tenants. Concern for housing justice continues to grow within the Justice Task Force, as we learn more and collaborate on actions to address affordable housing, gentrification, and evictions in Trinity's neighborhood.

End Gun Violence Focus Group
Monthly Meeting announced via E-mail | via Zoom
The End Gun Violence Focus Group was formed in early 2020 as gun violence in Kansas City, Missouri, and our nation was escalating at an alarming rate. Homicides and deaths from guns (accidental and self-inflicted) can be prevented. Our group works to end gun violence by educating, working to pass stronger gun laws, closing loop holes that endanger the safety of our community, and encouraging responsible gun ownership. Our monthly meeting time and date are announced in Trinity's weekly e-mails. Beth Burnett chairs this group, and if you're interested in working with us, please contact her at info@trinitykc.org.
